CAPPADOCIA, Turkey

by Roxanne from Faraway Worlds

With fairytale surroundings, relaxing spas, beautiful hikes and hot air balloon rides, travelling through Cappadocia makes the perfect trip with your best friend. Situated in central Turkey, Cappadocia is a national park filled with interesting rock formations and other cultural treasures. Home to early Christians, it has a wealth of cave churches decorated with surprisingly intricate mosaics and underground cities which are carefully concealed in the landscape. This results in a fascinating, adventurous stay, which can be as luxurious as you want to make it.

Before you go, be sure to book into a cave hotel. These rooms are carved into the hillside and are often beautifully appointed. Many hotels in Goreme, the main tourist town, also have beautiful views of the surrounding landscape. Wake up early in the morning, to either take a hot air balloon ride or just to watch the scores of balloons drift over the valleys – either way, it’s a beautiful sight. Enjoy a traditional Turkish breakfast, and be sure to book into a Turkish bath together. While it’s not always a soothing experience (imagine the dead skin vigorously scrubbed away), it’s definitely a bonding experience and you’ll both be glowing when you’re done.

It’s worth taking a day trip to explore the surrounding areas and, if you’re the outdoorsy types, there’s a range of hikes to choose from, all with spectacular scenery. And, to end the day, there are some excellent restaurants in the region, where you can try some traditional Turkish food, including the famous Cappadocian testi kebab.

DUBAI

by Em from That Travelista

As a destination known worldwide for its perpetual warmth and sunshine, its plethora of things to do, and its simultaneously Arab yet metropolitan atmosphere, Dubai makes the perfect girlfriend getaway for you and your bestie.

Those looking to get the adrenaline pumping can choose from activities like skydiving over the famous Palm Jumeirah, riding 4x4s over desert sand dunes, or eating dinner while literally hanging in the sky. On the other hand, those looking for a more low-key girls trip can instead focus on all the luxuries Dubai has to offer. These include shopping ‘til you drop at the world’s largest mall or haggling in the traditional souks, laying out at the beach all afternoon, and getting pampered at some of the world’s most luxurious hotels.

A girls trip to Dubai UAE

Dubai has the reputation of being an expensive destination, and it definitely can be one. But there are plenty of medium-priced hotels, restaurants, and activities for those keeping on a budget. On top of that, visiting with a friend to split expenses such as hotel and cab rides already significantly helps, as opposed to visiting solo.

There are so many things to do in Dubai regardless of your interests that it is sure to give you and your bestie the girls trip of your lives.

IRAN

UPDATE: The foreign office currently advises against ALL travel to Iran.
Please check the travel advice and safety advisories from your country’s foreign office and government websites before visiting any country on this list. If you’re from the UK, please read the latest Foreign Travel Advice here.

by Caroline from Veggie Wayfarer

Iran is one of the most beautiful countries in the world with its breathtaking architecture, fragrant food, rich history and unparalleled hospitality – an absolute must-visit, and why not go with your best friend? The country is a little less well-trodden, so travelling with a friend will make the experience more fun without taking away from any of the adventure.

Make sure to take at least 10 days, and if possible 2 weeks, to make the trek from Tehran all the way down to Shiraz.  The country’s highlights include the Golestan Palace in Tehran, the Shah Mosque in Isfahan, the Lut Desert and the famous Pink (kaleidoscope) mosque in Shiraz. If you are looking for a full 10-day itinerary check mine out my travel guide here.

Iranian cuisine is very meat-based, but every restaurant will have at least two vegetarian dishes. The local food is wonderfully seasoned with an eclectic mix of spices typical of the region. The language spoken is Farsi (not Arabic), and the currency is the Iranian Rial which you need a local credit card for to get out of the wall as foreign credit cards simply do not work.  The dress code is modest for both men and women however slightly stricter for women.

HAMPI, India

by Bhushavali

Hampi is a unique place which can be visited as an ideal weekend trip from Bangalore, India. The best, most luxurious and most chilled-out way to experience the place would be to stay at Evolve Back Resorts in Hampi and use the e-bike they provide to ride and explore the entire region.

Hampi was the capital city of Vijayanagara Empire in South India from 14th to 16th C. It is not a single monument but a group of several monuments, including the Queen’s Bath, Zenana enclosure, Royal enclosure, Step wells, Hazara Rama Temple, Vittala temple, a few huge monolith sculptures scattered all over and so many more. It would definitely take 2 days or more to explore it all. During 16th C, the Vijayanagara rulers were overthrown in war and slowly, the capital city fell into ruins. Today the ruins of Hampi are a protected site and only one of the temples is still in worship. The rest are all open, public monuments.

Wrap-up day 1 by watching the sunset from atop Hemakuta Hill; then get back to the resort and pamper yourself with the in-house Ayurvedic massage; then soak in the infinity pool and finally get some sumptuous dinner with live music. That’s a break that every girl deserves!

SRI LANKA

by Haley from Haleyblackall.com

Located on the southernmost tip of India, Sri Lanka is one of the best places to go on holiday with your best friend. The small country has it all! There will always be something to do within a 30-minute drive of anywhere on the island, which will make for a caulk full galentine getaway.

Stay at The Kip or Dreamsea in Ahangama along the south coast of the island. The south is home to some of the best golden sand beaches in the world. Try surf lessons on Weligama Beach, climb the famous Sigiriya Rock Fortress, safari through Yala National Park to spot leopards and elephants, and hike Little Adam’s Peak in the green centre of Ella.

If shopping is your thing, head to historic Galle Fort’s Pedlar Street and peruse the shops and grab a gelato together. Start your evening with a visit to the Lighthouse in Ahangama, sip a cocktail and watch a stunning Sri Lanka sunset. Later on, head to Ceylon Sliders, one of the coolest cafes in Southern Sri Lanka, order a falafel bowl and head up to the rooftop to mingle with the hip ex-pat crowd.

Sri Lanka is one of those countries you will never want to leave!

BAGAN, Myanmar

by Charu from Travel With CG

Bagan in Myanmar is a dreamlike destination like no other. Consisting of ancient Buddhist pagodas, stupas and temples, the incredibly vast landscape of Bagan is full of scattered shrines and mesmerising marvels. It is an ideal place to hop on an electric bike and go on an adventure of discovery with your best friend.

Days in Bagan are best spent scootering around pagodas, stumbling across unique, new places, indulging in the delicious local food, and admiring some incredible sunsets. Mornings there is something else altogether. With dozens of hot air balloons casually taking over the sky at dawn, sunrise in Bagan is a sight to behold and worth waking up early for.

Should you and your best friend get tired of exploring pagodas by road, you can even splurge on a hot air balloon ride in Bagan and soar high above years of history that make the area even more enchanting. Floating above the city’s stunning scenery and admiring it from an unparalleled viewpoint is something that I will personally always remember and recommend.

Nevertheless, watching the balloons fly above pagodas from the ground is a notable experience too. Depending on what the take-off location of the hot air balloons is when you are visiting, I would suggest to scout a nice spot nearby a day before and reach prior to sunrise to grab yourself and your best friend a frontline seat

MALAYSIA

by me

If you’re looking for a budget destination for a girl’s holiday, I would definitely recommend Malaysia! Although I arrived here solo, I quickly made girlfriends and we travelled together to paradise islands, Malaysia’s mainland jungle, and enjoyed the best street food I’ve found in Southeast Asia!

A trip to Malaysia will most likely start and end in its modern capital, Kuala Lumpur (unless you plan a side trip to Singapore, of course). Here you can find some of the world’s most luxurious hostels and get your own city infinity pool, or even splurge on a fancy hotel for a fraction of the price as elsewhere. But the real adventure begins when you and your girlfriends head out into the rest of Malaysia!

Love paradise islands? Head to the budget-friendly but astoundingly beautiful Perhentian Islands (a perfect place for snorkelling, surfing, and also where I learned to scuba-dive)! Or for a more upmarket stay, head to the sublime beach hotels of Langkawi.

If you want adventure, get on a ricketty minivan to the jungle of Taman Negara for epic hikes and jungle river swims. For a more chilled out trip but with equal amounts of lush greenery, you’ll love the tea region of the Cameron Highlands.

Finally, nothing says girls’ trip like AMAZING food! Penang is one of the food capital’s of the world, and the street food areas are simply insane. With Indian, Malay and Chinese cuisines all a key part of Malaysian culture, this country is unforgettable for foodies. Explore the surrounding nature, Kek Lok Si Temple, and the memorable street art in Georgetown is definitely worth hunting around for.

I’d recommend starting in the cities to get accustomed to culture, and ending in a beach or countryside area, such as Perhentian Islands or the Cameron Highlands, so you end your stay feeling relaxing and refreshed. Read more about planning a budget holiday to Malaysia.

BALI, Indonesia

by Kaylini from the Curated Travelist

The island paradise of Bali seems like a must for the best gal pal getaway list as a result of its Instagram drool-worthy images and tropical ambience! Despite these points, it’s a wonderful destination to visit with your bestie because it’s affordable, safe, friendly and utter bliss.

Whether you’re a fan of taking in a breathtaking sunset and enjoying a sundowner on Double Six beach, opting into an island-hopping trip to Nusa Penida for Angel’s Billabong and Broken Beach, embracing the Hindu culture at the numerous temples scattered across the island or even just enjoying the tranquillity of the luscious Jatiluwih rice terraces, there is truly something for all travel types.

The beautiful island of Bali, Indonesia

If you’re looking for Instagram worthy moments with a friend, Bali has this in bounds. Try a delicious and vibrant floating breakfast, the Bali swing or literally any jungle forest villa – all of which are reasonably priced!

The Balinese culture is something that can only be experienced on this island and it’s wonderful to be able to share that with a friend. Apart from all the jaw-dropping scenery, the food and culinary experiences in Bali are equally delightful. Treat yourself to local cuisine like nasi goreng, mie ayam, satays and with the buzz of more dietary requirements, most establishments have upped their game by including several vegan and gluten-free options too!

Bali truly is a paradise for many travellers and would be the perfect bucket list destination to visit with your bestie!

HIROSHIMA, Japan

by Michelle from Wander Eat Write

When I was living in Japan, a friend and I spent a few days exploring the area around Hiroshima since we’d already been to the more prominent tourist cities like Tokyo. Despite its tragic history, Hiroshima is a great destination, especially if you’re looking for something different from the hustle and bustle of the busy cities. It’s got lots of history and educational museums, amazing food, and unique islands nearby to visit, all while being super safe for female travellers.

One of the most popular day trips from Hiroshima is Miyajima, the island famous for its iconic floating torii gate, Itsukushima Shrine. The quiet island offers breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains and there’s even friendly wild deer around that you can take pictures with.

Okunoshima Japan

My favourite hidden gem in the Hiroshima area is Okunoshima, also known as Rabbit Island. Nearly a thousand rabbits roam the island freely with no natural predators. While most people who visit the island go to feed the bunnies, it’s actually an interesting place to learn about the lesser-known events from World War II and the island’s dark history as a secret poisonous chemical factory during that period.

Visitors can hike or bike around Okunoshima to see the remaining ruins and abandoned buildings and read about its historical significance through the accompanying signs.

KYUSHU, Japan

Since I found solo travelling in Japan somewhat difficult, it’s safe to say Japan is great for a girl’s trip. Whether you head to the key cities of Kyoto or Tokyo, immersing yourself in both modern and historical Japanese culture, or are after something more unique. And for those of you looking for adventure, look no further than the volcanic island of Kyushu.

Begin in Fukuoka, Kyushu’s largest city and handily located next to an international airport. Here, you and your best mate can enjoy karaoke, the famous regional ramen, and enjoy an evening at one of the many unique bars and arcades after seeing a live sumo-wrestling match. From Fukuoka, you can head straight to some of Japan’s most unique natural wonders by car, bus or bullet train…

Beppu destinations in Japan

Beppu has to be one of the most unique places I’ve ever visited – It’s home to over 2000 hot springs! And most unique of all is that these hot springs, referred to as ‘hells’ due to their insanely high temperatures, are multicoloured. From Beppu, you can also visit the active volcanoes of Aso or Kagoshima, providing they are safe at the time of your visit.

Finally, stay in a traditional ryokan to make your girl’s holiday one to remember. Many of the sleepier mountain towns have stunning accommodations, complete with onsen (natural hot springs) for you and your bestie to enjoy. Kirishima or Kurokawa are both fantastic locations for onsen that you won’t forget.

TULUM, Mexico

by Shelley from Travel Mexico Solo

High atop many travel bucket lists, is Tulum, Mexico, a tropical beachy jungle paradise in the Yucatan Peninsula. Thanks to Instagram, YouTube and social media, it’s definitely easy to see why: Tulum is gorgeous. This laid back boho beach town is also one of the best Mexico travel destinations for a girl’s trip for so many reasons. Besides the sheer number of things to do in Tulum so you’re both entertained, this town is really two places in one.

By day, there are cenotes to swim in and the Tulum Ruins Mayan archaeological site to explore, sunrise yoga classes and gorgeous beach clubs to lounge around at. When the sun goes down, Tulum’s nightlife is in full swing with funky bars, fine dining restaurants and late-night street taco stands.

For the cenotes, Mexico’s famous clear-water swimming holes, head to Cenote Calavera and Gran Cenote, located just minutes from Tulum Town (AKA downtown Tulum). These make the perfect places to get some quintessential Tulum photos you’ll treasure forever.

At night, get all dressed up in your finest tropical chic attire and hit the town together. From Happy Hour at Mateo’s on the top deck for sunset, to hip Gitano for the best cocktails in Tulum, and some nightcap tacos al pastor at Antojitos La Chiapaneca, you and your gf will have an epic Tulum trip, from morning till night.

HAVANA, Cuba

by Carley Rojas Avila from Home to Havana

Havana, Cuba is the perfect combination of fascinating culture, great nightlife, and adventurous travel experiences to make for an ideal trip with friends. Exploring Old Havana and its colonial buildings and art galleries is the perfect way to enjoy a trip to the Caribbean, where many travel experiences tend to be more couples-focused or family-focused.

Beyond just seeing the city’s breathtaking sights, enjoy Havana’s resurgence in new restaurants, bars, and nightclubs popping up constantly and making for something to do in the evening here as well. A trip to Havana isn’t complete without a visit to the Fábrica de Arte Cubano, a multi-use space that is part art gallery, concert venue, and bar with rotating exhibits and performances – it is the place to be for locals and visitors alike.

Make sure to stay in one of the city’s restored colonial buildings turned rental properties, like a casa particular in Old Havana, to experience the beautiful and historic facades of the city from the inside out. Plus, with some of the best beaches in the world just a few hours to the east of Havana, a trip here can easily become a beach vacation as well.

GUATEMALA

by Nicole from Go Far Grow Close

One of the best places to visit with your best friend would be Antigua in Guatemala. It is a beautiful city nestled between dormant volcanoes, with cobblestone roads, colourful buildings with exceptional restaurants and cafes, and lots of great shopping. One of the prettiest places to stay is in Posada Del Angel, just near the centre of town, which offers large, beautiful rooms.

Girls Trip Destinations

If you like adventure, you can do an ATV tour of the city and the surrounding area all the while visiting authentic little Guatemalan towns, learning about how the locals live.

If your gal pal and you love hiking and excitement, then you should do the 2 hour hike up Pacaya Volcano, a live volcano a couple of hours drive from Antigua. Finally, if you love history and archaeology, then take the one hour flight to Flores, and explore the Maya ruins of Tikal National Park, a Unesco World Heritage Site.

GALAPAGOS

by Ilona from Top Travel Sights

Galapagos is one of the best places to visit with your best friend. The islands are known for their wildlife, but other fun activities you can do together are climbing volcanos, snorkelling or relaxing on white beaches.

Whether you join a cruise or organise a budget island-hopping tour yourselves, you are guaranteed to see animals you can only find in this corner of the world. Most islands are home to giant tortoises, and stopping by a breeding centre will give you a chance to see them up close. You are also guaranteed to run into marine iguanas and sea lions.

Giant turtle on San Cristobal

If you and your friend enjoy snorkelling, head to La Loberia on San Cristobal island. At this beach, you often find sea lions and can snorkel with these playful animals. With a bit of luck, you can also spot flamingos and blue-footed boobies. These birds have feet so blue that they almost don’t look real.

Galapagos consists of volcanic islands, and during your trip, you have the chance to climb them. Join a tour on Isabela Island, where you can look into the Sierra Negra Volcano’s giant crater.

If you get tired or need some time off, you and your best friend can find many white beaches in Galapagos. Isabela Island is home to a long stretch of sand where you can enjoy the sun and relax with a refreshing cocktail.

PISCO, Peru

by Ellie from Ellie’s Travel Tips

With miles of relaxing beaches, rolling sand dunes, and world-renowned wineries, Pisco is the perfect destination for a girls trip. While at first Pisco may seem like a typical Peruvian town, once you and your bestie notice the breathtaking nature reserves and boozy distilleries, this region will have you wanting more.

Named after the national liquor of Peru, Pisco is the perfect spot for you and your best girlfriend to try some pisco sour. The best way to try pisco is by driving to one of the nearby vineyards, where the hosts will be more than happy to show you both around and offer tastings of some of their popular varieties of wine.

wineries are one of the best things to do on a girls trip

As one of nearby Paracas’ top adventures, Paracas National Reserve is where you and your best friend should head to next. Many tourist companies offer scenic boat rides around this massive reserve– home to countless exotic and endangered marine species. Next, you girls should check out the Huacachina Oasis. As South America’s only natural desert oasis, Huacachina is perfect for riding through the neighbouring sand dunes on carts and sandboards. After hitting the sandy slopes, head into the Oasis to grab a delicious bite to eat at Wild Olive Trattoria & Guest House.

Remember to pack sunglasses, a hat, and tons of sunscreen for the intense desert sun before you leave on your girls getaway in Peru. With countless wineries and Insta-worthy attractions, Pisco is a great place to visit with your best girlfriend!

Huacachina, PERU

by Michelle from Moyer Memoirs

Huacachina, Peru, is an excellent place to vacation with your best friend, especially if the two of you are an active, outdoor-loving pair.  Huacachina is located on the west coast of Peru and is a 5-hour drive from the capital city of Lima, Peru.  It is very easy to plan a getaway with a day-trip from Lima to Huacachina.  This small town is an oasis in the middle of a desert with a small lake surrounded by sand dunes on all sides.  It feels like a lost town in the middle of nowhere!

Vacationers flock to Huacachina for adventures on the sand dunes, including ATV 4-wheel driving up and down the dunes at full speed and then sandboarding down them.  You and your gal-pal can even try standing on that board while you surf the sands. My daughter and I chose to accept the challenge of the sand-surfing going face-first down the hills with our bellies firmly planted on the boards.

There are dozens of tour companies all offering the same adventure, so there is usually not a worry of it selling out.  The dune buggies all zip around the dunes in a single file line, popping up and over each dune with accelerating speed so that the seat-belted passengers scream in chorus.

Make sure you take sand protection for your face, your eyes, and your camera by taking a buff, a pair of sunglasses and a Ziploc bag for your camera or phone.  Sand will get everywhere while you are flying down the dunes.

For those that love to party, there are numerous hostels and bars surrounding the oasis town.  If you prefer a more relaxing and quiet abode, I recommend staying in Ica and taking a cheap 10-minute taxi ride through the desert to Huacachina when you are ready for the excitement to begin.

SAN FRANCISCO, California

by Katherine from Bright Lights of America

San Francisco is an absolute dream Galentine’s getaway location – it’s got everything from gorgeous views, world-renowned wine regions, gardens bursting with colour, excellent restaurants, cafes, and cocktail bars, and the weather’s pretty mild as well.

If you love nothing more than having deep and meaningful (or fun and frivolous) conversations with your bestie over a glass of wine, take a trip to the Napa wine region and relax at Castello di Amorosa – a 13th Century-style Italian castle winery. Maybe a French Chateau, formal gardens and sparkling wine is more to your taste? You should while away your day at Domain Carneros.

Chances are, you won’t run out of interesting neighborhoods to explore, tours to take, or experiences to share in the city that never sleeps!

Take time to visit the city’s icons, like Central Park, Times Square, the 9/11 Monument, and any neighborhood that fits your vibe. Love Gossip Girl? Spend some time on the Upper East and Upper West Sides of Manhattan. Or maybe you prefer to wander through the boutiques of Greenwich Village. Maybe you’re too cool for Manhattan and feel like Williamsburg, Brooklyn is more your style. No matter which neighborhood in the city you decide to explore, you’re bound to find cool shops and great food.

Find opportunities to visit museums, such as the American Museum of Natural History, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and the Whitney Museum, among others. And make sure you take in the views from one of the best observatories in New York City, like One World Observatory, Top of the Rock, or the Empire State Building.

With Broadway, other theatre houses, comedy clubs, and karaoke nights, you won’t be without entertainment in the evenings, either. No matter what your interests are, you and your best friend will have a trip you’ll never forget in New York City!

CATSKILLS, New York State

by Monica from Planner At Heart

Grab your bestie for a winter wonderland getaway! The Catskills have always been a beloved ‘back to nature’ getaway. From historical artists to Borscht Belt resorts of yesteryear (you know what I’m talking about, Marvelous Mrs Maisel fans) to Woodstock, there’s always been magic here.  Now, Millennial artists, hoteliers, and restaurateurs are shaping the next ‘version” of the Catskills, celebrating the same awe-inspiring surroundings.

For ski bunnies, stay and play at Hunter Mountain –  upstate New York’s premier four-season resort for skiing and snow tubing. Stay at Kaatskill Mountain Club for ski-in/ski-out convenience. After a day on the slopes, relax in their hot tubs, heated pool, and large rooms (studios all the way to 3 bedrooms).

For nonskiers, enjoy a relaxing weekend at the recently renovated Scribner’s Lodge, a modern luxury boutique hotel. They have larger suite rooms, an amazing bar, and a restaurant that would shine in Manhattan.

Last Chance Restaurant has a wonderful extensive Americano menu with gluten-free options, 300 speciality beers, 50 whiskeys, and 100 kinds of cheese!  They have a new live music venue in the building next door so make it a dinner and concert combo all in one place.

If you are looking for a more elevated meal or are fans of the infamous Blue Stone at Stone Barns, have dinner at Jessie’s Harvest House. They have great mixed drinks, Pat LaFrieda burgers, meatballs, and pasta! Definitely make a reservation if you’re planning on enjoying this restaurant. It’s a popular one!

Girls’ Trip Holidays in The Caribbean:

BAHAMAS CRUISE

by Rachael from A City Girl Outside

Setting sail on a Disney Cruise is the perfect way to spend time with your best girlfriends. The Disney Bahamas Cruise offers everything you could ever want from a girls’ trip. From the endless food options to bar hopping and spending time by the pool.

There are several options for staterooms on a Disney Cruise, from interior rooms to suites. The Verandah rooms with a balcony are highly recommended, and I’d highly suggest spending the extra cash for an exterior balcony. Being able to watch the waves at night or get your first glimpse of the crystal blue seas of the Bahamas is truly magical.

The Disney Cruise Ships offer adult-only areas for times when you want some peace and quiet. The Cove Pool is an adults-only pool complete with a poolside bar. The District is an area on board also exclusive to adults. This area features several bars, including the PINK bar, where you can sample different types of champagne – make sure you try the elderberry!

The Disney Dream departs from Cape Canaveral and starts it’s journey for the Bahamas. The first stop on the 4-night, 5-day itinerary is the town of Nassau. Here you can book tours and excursions or simply explore the area as you wish. Nassau is a stone’s throw away from the famous Atlantis Hotel & Resort which many people choose to explore.

The final stop on the itinerary is Castaway Cay, Disney’s private island in the Bahamas and a true paradise. If you’re an active group of friends, or if you just want the really cool medal, the Castaway Cay 5k race commences at 8am as soon as the ship docks. Make sure you sign up in advance for the run and at the finish line you’ll be rewarded with a Castaway Cay medal that makes a great souvenir! After starting your morning with a run, head to Serenity Bay, the adults-only beach on the island. This area is beautiful and the ocean is so crystal clear and calm, it stretches for miles.

For something extra special consider a spa package at the Senses onboard spa. If you’re not looking for a specific treatment but want somewhere to unwind you can buy a pass to access the Rainforest room featuring showers, saunas and hot tubs, complete with a window view of the endless ocean. Why not end your night dining at Palo or Remy’s – the Disney Dream’s fine dining options. These will need to be booked in advance and aren’t included in the package price of the cruise.

A Disney Cruise is a great option for a girls trip, bachelorette or just for big kids who still love Disney!

CANADIAN ROCKY MOUNTAINS

by Devin from Deventuretime

The Canadian Rocky Mountains make for a perfect getaway with your best friend due to the incredible scenery, exceptional wines, and great food. The best way to explore the area is by renting a car and road-tripping from place-to-place, stopping at many beautiful destinations throughout the mountains. There are plenty of different accommodations along the way, but the most sought after are the dreamy cabins in the mountains. Just imagine waking up to views of the roaring mountains!

Canadian Rocky Mountains Travel

While there are many incredible places to visit in the Canadian Rockies, the most well-known destination is Banff National Park. Banff is home to great hiking trails through the mountains and some of the most beautiful lakes in the world, including Moraine Lake and Lake Louise. It’s also a known place to catch a glimpse of some of the local wildlife, including moose, elk, bears, and more.

A girl’s trip is always best enjoyed with wine, and there is an incredible wine region in the Canadian Rockies, located in Okanagan Valley. Wine lovers from around the world visit this region to taste the wines and enjoy the incredible lake and mountain views. There are plenty of wine tours that take you to numerous wineries throughout the course of the day, where you can sample as many wines as you please.

OKANAGAN VALLEY, British Columbia

by Taryn from Chasing Trail

Nothing says “Galentine’s getaway” quite like wine tasting, farm-to-table dining, shopping, and spending time outdoors in gorgeous weather. That’s precisely what you’ll find in British Columbia’s Okanagan Valley, USA Today’s pick for the world’s No. 2 “Best Wine Region to Visit.”

While northern California’s romantic Wine Country attracts worldwide attention, heading a bit further north to BC guarantees you and your gals a totally different – but equally fabulous – experience. Since it’s lesser known, Okanagan Valley is far less expensive and crowded than Napa. Don’t let that fool you, though: It’s home to over 200 vineyards and centers around stunning Okanagan Lake, which is 135 kilometres, or about 84 miles, long.

OkanaganValleyWineGlass

Start off with a day of vineyard tours and boutique shopping in Oliver, the “Wine Capital of Canada,” then head to Kelowna, AKA “Napa North.” Check out one of Kelowna’s five wine trails, enjoy sweeping Cascade and Coast mountain views, and choose a laid-back lakefront hotel, like the Coast Capri, with an onsite restaurant and spa.

Weather in Okanagan Valley is surprisingly mild (this is Canada, after all), with little snowfall and winter temperatures averaging in the mid 30s to low 40s Fahrenheit. This makes it ideal for a wide range of outdoor activities between wine tastings. From hiking and horseback riding to biking and skiing, there’s truly something here that appeals to every interest.

So what are you waiting for? Gather your gals, pick a weekend, and pack your bags for a girlfriends’ getaway in Okanagan Valley!

TOFINO, British Columbia

Disconnect from life and reconnect with your bestie on beautiful Vancouver Island. Tofino, a surf town nestled in the wild West Coast of Canada offers nature, white-sand beaches, and an element of escape. It’s the perfect place for you and your girlfriend to bond and leave the busy city behind. Catch a wave, soak in a hot spring, hike, or more. Activity options here are endless. Did we mention Tofino is famous for its fish tacos, coffee shops, and food trucks? What else could a girls’ trip need?

Kick off your getaway by unwinding with a fire at the beach. Bring some food truck goodies, hot cocoa (or your favorite red wine), and watch the sun go down. The sunsets here are phenomenal, and Chesterman’s Beach is an ideal place to kick back and catch up. For the more adventurous, a trip to Hot Springs Cove is a must. This natural hot spring is located in a remote inlet North of Tofino. Access and cell service are limited, so you’ll be able to enjoy a full day of quality time with your bestie.

Plus, getting there is half the fun. Travel by seaplane, taking in a birds-eye view of the coast, or arrive by zodiac, watching out for humpback whales along the way. Any trip to Tofino wouldn’t be complete without surfing. Be sure to take a lesson with the passionate and supportive all-female crew at Surf Sisters. You’ll catch a wave and fits of laughter.

A trip to Tofino is definitely one you and your girlfriends will talk about for months to come!

Girls Trip Ideas in Africa:

MOROCCO

by Adrienne from TheHaphazardTraveler

Adventurous besties should add a small group tour of Morocco to their bucket list.  While Morocco is a small country, it has incredibly varied scenery, from picturesque coasts to rugged mountains, colorful cities, and the immense Sahara desert.  For this reason, an adventure tour with Intrepid Travel or G Adventures is a great way for friends to explore the landscapes, history, and cultures of Morocco.

A one or two week Morocco itinerary usually starts in Casablanca, where travellers can begin their sightseeing with the largest mosque in Morocco, the Hassan II Mosque.  Trips often include Chefchaouen, an Instagram-perfect blue city, and Morocco’s Roman ruins in Volubilis.  Morocco’s “culture capital” of Fes is another city made for photos as well as shopping in its vibrant markets.  Movie buffs will love Ait Benhaddou, a UNESCO-designated clay city that was featured in Game of Thrones and many films.

The highlight of every Morocco tour, though, is an overnight in the Sahara.  Set off into the desert on camels and arrive at camp just in time to watch the sunset from the top of a sand dune.  And, of course, the iconic city of Marrakech is the perfect end to any Morocco trip by staying in a traditional Moroccan home (riad) converted into a hotel.  Visit the colorful Jardin Majorelle, shop for souvenirs in the medina, and have dinner in street food stalls that pop up like magic in the square each night.

A small group tour to Morocco takes care of all the planning, so best friends can focus on having an epic adventure together.

EGYPT

by Clotilde

A trip to Egypt with a girlfriend is an experience that will build friendships and memories for a lifetime. A 10-day tour in Egypt offers an almost complete overview of the country and can be organized in complete autonomy. If you have been fascinated by this mysterious culture since childhood, get ready for a leap back in time as soon as you set foot in the country.

Start in Cairo and visit the Pyramids. Of course, you cannot miss spending half a day exploring the last of the seven wonders of the ancient world, but don’t forget that Cairo offers much more. The Egyptian museum, which will move to Giza in 2021, is a must to explore and will help you to appreciate the rest of the trip. The churches of the Coptic Cairo area and the mosques of Islamic Cairo will take you another day, and then there are still the stepped pyramids of Saqqara and the bent pyramid of Dashur.

From Cairo, move to Aswan and embark on a Dahabiya for an experience that will be an indelible memory for life, a cruise on the Nile. After 3 days of slow and relaxing navigation, visiting ancient temples, and sharing past times together, you will arrive in Luxor.

Luxor will continue to amaze with more countless and unmissable attractions such as the tombs in the Valley of the Kings, Hatshepsut’s Temple, the colossi of Memnon, and the magnificent Karnak temple. From Luxor if you still have some time you can finish the trip by going to relax on the shores of the Red Sea.

STELLENBOSCH

by Ella from Many More Maps

If you’re looking for a day of relaxing in beautiful scenery and sipping wine to your heart’s content with your best friends, Stellenbosch is the place to go! Stellenbosch is a university town of Stellenbosch just 50km from Cape Town, so it’s perfect for a day trip or a weekend trip.

This region is so jam-packed with award-winning wineries and delicious wine-tasting options that it’s hard to choose which winery to go to. Favourites include Lanzerac, Waterford and Simonsig, all of which welcome visitors. Many also offer tours of the estate, as well as tastings, and some even have accommodation! Accommodation at the wine estates is typically luxurious and in beautiful surroundings. Staying overnight at one of the wineries is the ideal way to extend your visit and spend some extra time relaxing with your friends.

Public transport between wineries is nonexistent, so, although it’s possible to drive yourself, it’s much better to book onto a Stellenbosch wine tour. This way, you and your friends can have as much wine as you like without worrying about transportation!

If you’re staying in Stellenbosch for a couple of days and have already visited the wineries, there are still many great things to do in Stellenbosch. You could spend hours just admiring its gorgeous natural surroundings. For great hiking and horseback riding, head to the Jonkershoek Nature Reserve. Follow this up with a stroll in the Stellenbosch University Botanical Garden for a bit of peace and quiet.
