WayAway reviews – Is WayAway legit for easily getting travel cashback?

I’m always sceptical when someone recommends a new service to save money on travelling. No matter how good the WayAway reviews were, I wasn’t completely sure how easy it would be to make savings on the WayAway app until I tried it out for myself. I wanted to find out; is WayAway legit? And is switching to WayAway worth it?

Please note that this blog post most likely contains affiliate links to products or services I use and love! If you click on the links, it means I get a little extra pocket money at no additional cost to you.
This is what keeps my website ticking over – thank you!

This post includes information about WayAway and how to use it – plus my general impressions after using the membership!

Is WayAway legit?

Yep! WayAway and WayAway Plus are both legit. WayAway is a real service that is really growing in popularity for those within the travel scene.

Essentially, WayAway is a travel aggregator. You can search for flights on its search tool, and it will bring up the best tickets. Alongside flight deals, you can also compare prices for hotel stays, tickets, shows, and car rentals.

WayAway was made by travellers, for travellers, and has a customer-first approach. The service was created with the Everyday Traveller in mind, so they really considered what the average person actually wants from a travel reward scheme.

What is the WayAway Plus membership?

Alternatively, you can also sign up for its paid membership program, WayAway Plus, to get cashback when you book. In my opinion, this is the best thing about WayAway!

WayAway Plus is an awesome travel membership program that lets you book flights, hotels, attractions, car rentals, etc… and get actual cash back – not just points or miles!

Right now, they’re offering an amazing deal where you can snag an annual membership plan for just $49.99 if you act fast – that’s the early-bird price. Once you’re a member, you can start booking with their travel partners and earn cashback rewards.

Let me give you an example – say you want to book a hotel on Booking.com through WayAway Plus. Not only will you get a great deal on the hotel, but you’ll also receive cash back after your stay. And the best part? The money is sent directly to your PayPal account, so you can use it however you want.

So if you’re a travel lover who wants to save some serious cash on your next adventure, I highly recommend checking out WayAway Plus.

Pros and cons of WayAway

Some benefits of using WayAway:

  • Use the search tool to find the best rates and compare prices on flights, hotels, attractions, car rentals, etc.
  • The site is super user-friendly. And, in my opinion, the WayAway App is much cleaner, more modern, and easier to navigate than many other travel aggravator tools.
  • Easy to set up price alerts for flights, so you don’t miss out on price drops!!
  • Access 24/7 customer support. WayAway Plus users have access to Premium support with any travel-related questions – from finding the best car rental deals or getting recommendations on local cuisine. How cool is that?

  • Local recommendations from travel experts (such as local favourite spots and hidden gems written by WayAway ambassadors who’ve created local guides covering everything from the best places to eat, visit, and take photos, including places the average traveller might not know about!
  • Cashback with WayAway Plus (it usually appears after a couple of days, in dollars, and you can withdraw it right away)
  • The WayAway reviews are great! Yay. As much as I love to share my experiences, I know that it’s hard to get a great idea from one person, so checking the WayAway reviews is the best way to put your mind at rest.

TIP: You can also filter flights by toggling between these features:

  • Baggage requirements
  • Flight details
  • layovers/overnight flights
  • Luggage check

This means you don’t have to keep clicking through all the ‘bargain’ flights – only to find out they’re more expensive once you’ve added luggage!

Also, under your profile, I love that you can select with you want to display prices for one person or all passengers. You can also toggle between the cost for one night or the whole stay.

Drawbacks of using WayAway:

  • If you’ve been used to using another travel aggregator for a long time, you’re probably wondering if Is Wayaway worth it? Honestly, it can always be annoying to switch platforms, no matter how easy it is to use.
  • If you don’t travel overseas often or only stay in hotels once a year, it’s possible that you won’t earn enough cashback to recoup the cost of the membership (unless you book a luxury trip or long stay).
  • If you’re already on a very low budget and don’t have cash to spare, you may not have the money to pay for the WayAway Plus membership in advance – although you could still use the free version of the WayAway app for flight comparisons.

WayAway reviews: My experience using the WayAway Plus membership

Thank you to WayAway for giving me access to the Wayaway Plus membership for free so I could check it out and write this review!

As an ADHD traveller, a lot of the money-saving travel schemes are pretty alien to me. In fact, the simplicity of using WayAway Plus is why it’s the ONLY travel cashback program I use personally!

I’ll never get out a credit card (if you’ve heard of the ADHD tax, you’ll know why!), and I’m not usually organised enough to find those Amazing Cheap Rates that other travel bloggers seem so skilled at finding.

For that reason, I was really happy to give WayAway ago. It doesn’t require any extra effort to book through WayAway than any other program, and it’s so easy to use that it took no time at all to get used to the search functions and different features.

Also, the cashback is paid in dollars straight into your account or PayPal. I’ve lost rewards before because I forgot to follow up or claim them (or the process was too long or annoying, and I couldn’t be bothered). So I felt like the WayAway cash reward was something I could finally take advantage of.

I also MUCH prefer flights cashback to points/miles. If I’d had paid for the WayAway app myself, I’d have already made the membership back and then some, as I just booked a 1-month hotel stay (I’m a remote worker) and a flight.

If you’re like me and aren’t very good at ‘travelling smart’ or remembering to use cashback schemes, I think WayAway is ideal. With that in mind, I definitely think the good WayAway reviews are legit – I have no reason to believe they’re not genuine!

What else is different about WayAway Plus Membership?

Aside from being a flight comparison website, WayAway Plus has some unique aspects that make it very different from the older comparison sites.

First of all, the best element is obviously the cashback. I’d say the membership is best for people who travel fairly frequently. However, there isn’t any minimum threshold withdrawal for PayPal – so you don’t need to worry about never getting your cashback because you didn’t reach that threshold.

WayAway Plus also has more of a ‘travel community’ feel. You’ll get access to city guides published by local experts to give travellers tips on where to visit. I really like the ‘hidden gems’ feature, which has unique suggestions (including plenty of free attractions). They’re all written by people who are obviously passionate about the places they’ve visited – I really appreciate this aspect!

If you’re on the Booking Genius program, it will combine with the WayAway Plus cashback! In fact, the WayAway app automatically books with Booking.com – so when you search Booking via the WayAway app, you get all the same hotels – but with cashback.

Honestly, I absolutely wish I had known about the connection between Booking.com and the WayAway app sooner. I regularly use Booking and could have got so much cashback by now. Oops!

What cashback can you get back with WayAway Plus?

Make sure you’re booked into your WayAway Plus account when making bookings! After your stay is completed, it will usually appear within a couple of days, and you can withdraw it straight away.

Is WayAway worth it?

WayAway is definitely worth it for regular travellers, especially if you book several flights, hotels, car rentals, or tours. I have had a great experience using Wayaway Plus so far, so I think the membership is worth the money, but the WayAway reviews (and WayAway app reviews) speak for themself.

Although anyone can use the free WayAway app, I think the WayAway Plus membership is best for regular travellers who book flights, hotels, tours, car rentals etc, a few times a year. I particularly recommend it for anyone who uses Booking.com (it’s integrated into the WayAway app, so you might as well sign up and get cashback).

If you rarely travel abroad or don’t use hotels more than once a year, then you might not make the back membership price in cashback.

As a flight search comparison tool and a way to book hotels and attractions for good prices, I really think WayAway serves its purpose well! But it’s the local tips, 24/7 support, and cashback in dollars from the WayAway Plus membership that (in my opinion) really makes WayAway worth your time.
