However, you’re not the first person who wants more of an adrenaline rush out of their time in the city. And for thrillseekers, it doesn’t get better than bungee jumping.
Can you go bungee jumping in Sydney?
No, there are no places to bungee jump in Sydney.
Bungee jumping is not permitted in New South Wales, so you won’t find a place to do so within Sydney or the entirety of NSW.
So, that’s the short answer to your question! See ya! (However, there is one place you can go bungee jumping in Australia, which I write about below.)

Can you bungee jump off Sydney Harbour Bridge?
No, you cannot bungee jump off Sydney Harbour Bridge.
It seems to be a fairly common misconception that you can plunge off Sydney Harbour Bridge. Of course, this isn’t the case, as there are no bungee jumps in Sydney or New South Wales.
However, you can walk across the iconic bridge by taking on the brilliant Sydney Harbour Bridge Climb – ideal for anyone who isn’t afraid of heights! Alternatively, you can jump out of a plane in Sydney instead and try skydiving!
Across the pond, it’s popular to bungee jump off Auckland Harbour Bridge in NZ. I’ve found myself wondering if this is where the confusion lies; bungee jumping in New Zealand is so popular and world-famous (especially in Queenstown, often known as the adventure capital of the world)) that people assume that Australia is also full of heart-pumping experiences.
The truth is that fearless Aussies are more likely to hop on a plane to NZ if they want to get their heart racing, though Australia does have its fair share of exciting experiences too.
Where is the best place to bungee jump in Australia?
The best place to bungee jump in Australia is at Skypark by AJ Hackett in Cairns, on the AJ Hackett Bungy Jump!
The bungy jump is 50m high, and you’ll jump from the platform over a natural lagoon within the stunning Australian rainforest.
Aside from the 50m bungy, there are 16 total jumps to take on at Skypark, from the epic 50m bungy jump to a giant swing that reaches up to 120km/ph in 3.5 seconds… Yikes!
Skypark is actually the only place to bungee jump in Australia, so it’s the closest you’ll get to taking the plunge in Sydney.

Getting to AJ Hackett Skypark from Sydney:
Unfortunately, getting to Australia’s only bungee jump in Cairns would be a whopping 27-hour drive from Sydney. No thanks… unless you have time for a roady NSW to QLD! After all, Cairns is already a popular spot for a Queensland holiday.
A much quicker option is to fly; Cairns is a 3-hour flight from Sydney, and the Skypark is just a 20-minute drive from Cairns town centre.
Alternatively, thrillseekers can also catch a 3hr 20m flight from Sydney to Queenstown in NZ, where you’ll find three epic bungee jumps. These include the Nevis bungee, which, at 134 metres tall, is much higher than Skypark’s!
Plus, there are tons of other epic Queenstown experiences for thrillseekers, from jetboating and ziplining to skydiving and paragliding – so it’s the clear winner when it comes to adventure holidays!
Sydney activities for thrillseekers (instead of Sydney bungee jumping)
As we’ve established, unfortunately, you can’t go Sydney bungee jumping. However, there is a wide range of other adventurous activities that thrill seekers can enjoy. Here are some of my top picks:
- Go Skydiving! Since skydiving is likely the closest you’ll get to bungee jumping in NSW, this is a great alternative. And it’s safe to say that hurtling from 15,000 will still get that adrenaline rushing. If you’re brave enough to hurtle from the sky at 14,000 feet over Sydney, book your skydiving experience here.
