Hi, I’m Cassie! I began travelling at 27 and haven’t looked back.

Since arriving alone in New Zealand in March 2020, I have situated myself in Auckland where I have been working full-time.

Alongside sharing my favourite North Island destinations, you can also find guides for destinations in Australia, Japan, Indonesia and Southeast Asia, and The Balkans.

Although I don’t advocate travel at this time, I hope my earnest posts on everything from solo backpacking to mental well-being on the road, will help prepare you for trips in the future.

Keep safe out there everyone.

A selection of some of my fav photos of me and the A selection of some of my fav photos of me and the rescue animals at the sanctuary. ❤️ Which is your favourite?

2. Mother of goats 🐐
3. Chilling with Gingko (officially my tallest friend)
4. Walking through Sheep City Paddock 🐑
5. Feeding Gadget, our baby pukeko
6. Baby Goats looking cute in between being naughty
7. Doris being forever cute (plus her sunscreen) 🐖
8. Cuddles with Russell Crow 🐓
9. Snuggles with Gilly, who looked after me in isolation 🐈‍⬛
10. Pretending to like Casper (JK JK, he's my lil annoying buddy bud.)

Autumn wildflowers. 🌼 Do you have a favourite s Autumn wildflowers. 🌼 Do you have a favourite season?

I don't. It's the change of seasons that mesmerises me. How even when you're living in one place for years at a time, you see it decorated in a thousand colours. How the earth shifts and changes and grows as many times as we do. How the cells under all living things, each root and blossom and smile, shifts and changes too. Grows old and becomes new.

Cities too - I know tower blocks better than towering hills. The way they become oppressive under grey skies with slushy snow underfoot in winter, with only the twinkle of festive lights under rarely washed windows to wink and suggest hundreds of humans live beneath those walls. Autumn is ambers and yellows and fiery reds, and spring is a hundred colours more. I love summer too, when the sun spotlights all of the colours at once.

The earth is not our canvas; Each colour and cell and sky and season belongs to itself. But we can share in it, take gratitude in it, feel renewed by it. In these reliable passing months, in the weather that chills and warms, in the leaves that fall and grow again. Just as we fall and grow too.
Dreaming of new adventures from under sweet sunset Dreaming of new adventures from under sweet sunsets 🌇✨🌠 how about you?

dress ~ gifted from @arnhem_clothing. Their new collection Romance Rebellion launched today. (sustainable brand ofc!! 🌏) Receiving a message from a brand I thought highly of, and later 2 beautiful dresses, felt so special. I'm usually so tired while volunteering, feeling worse for wear while wearing my worse. (Despite how much love and gratitude I feel for this place, and my 'down to earth everyday'!) 🥰

It was such a gently satisfying evening and out of the current ordinary - dressing pretty, and exploring the paddocks just for fun on my day off, in the gorgeous light of dusk.

I never thought I would work on something creative from the tiniest corners of the animal sanctuary. But here I am. Here I am. ❤️
