My 2019 New Year Travel Resolutions

I’m not listing specific destinations, since I just started saving again and don’t want to set a goal I may not achieve. Although a couple of my below may be challenging to accomplish, the below are all relatively bitesize resolutions which I should be able to achieve by the end of 2019!

DO ANOTHER MULTI-DAY HIKE

This should be easy to accomplish, I could even find one over a weekend in Victoria (the state of Aus I’m currently living and working in) if the opportunity doesn’t arrive elsewhere.

GO DIVING AGAIN

I got my PADI in 2018 and LOVE diving. But, since I have anxiety, it’s easy to talk myself out of these kinda activities. I gotta dive again next year or it will only get harder!

VISIT A COUNTRY I’VE NEVER BEEN TO BEFORE

Since I’ll most likely be saving in Australia for the majority of 2019 (I’m on a Working Holiday Visa at the moment), my most likely holiday destination will be exploring more of Indonesia so as not to break the bank. But I like to think I’ll find somewhere new to see by the end of the year!

LEARN HOW TO RIDE A BIKE

Okay, so technically not ‘travel’ specific BUT it would definitely change the way I can travel. There’s certainly been countries I visited where I couldn’t get around as well because I couldn’t ride a bicycle (and thus also a scooter).

But… it’s actually quite scary for an adult to learn how to ride a bike. So this is the biggest challenge on the list.

I just want to get out in nature for a night and see a beautiful sky uninterrupted with light pollution.

BE A MORE SUSTAINABLE TRAVELLER

From getting myself a new refillable water bottle to thinking about eco-friendly travel in general, there’s a lot for me to consider in 2019 in regards to making this a priority.

TRAVEL WITH FRIENDS

2018 was the year of solo travel, finishing with me moving to Australia alone. So in 2019, while solo travel will still happen, my dream is to travel with friends. Likely, new friends, and if I’m very very lucky, I’d love to see an old friend again too.

HAVE A COSY CHRISTMAS

I’ve always had a bad relationship with Christmas, since I didn’t enjoy it growing up. But always I will dream of countryside and open fires and love. To enjoy Christmas is the hardest thing to accomplish on this list, but hey, a girl can dream.

FOLLOW MY HEART

Still got a way to go to master this one. 🙂

What are your travel resolutions for 2019?

Scuba diving- I want to try that. A multi day hike sounds like so much fun! How is that you’ve never rode a bike before? I thought that was like a childhood right of passage.
